George Tanabe, Moderator, is Emeritus professor of religion and past Chair of the Religion Department at UH Manoa. Dr. Tanabe is President of BDK Hawai'i and BDK America (Bukkyō Dendō Kyōkai, the Society for the Promotion of Buddhism). It's mission is to translate all of the Buddhist texts in the Sino-Japanese canon into English.
