Kenneth Makuakane, the producer of the HBMF Makana concert from Kawaiaha‘o Church, is a songwriter (2000 songs), musician ( guitar, ‘ukulele, bass, piano and multiple percussion instruments), founding member of Mango and The Pandanus Club, and producer (almost 200 albums), working with renowned Hawaiian artists such as Nā Leo, Hapa, Obrian Eselu, Jeff Rasmussen,Willie K, Mākaha Sons and Grammy-nominated artists such as Amy Hānaiali‘i Gilliom, Hoʻokena, and Raiatea Helm. Over 40 years he has won 20 Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards, and in 2015 was awarded the Hawai‘i Academy of Recording Arts’ Lifetime Achievement Award; he has been nominated for three Hōkū Awards in the October 2021 awards show. An ordained Minister, the Rev. Kenneth Makuakāne was installed at the “Mother Church of Hawaiʻi,” the iconic and sacred luakini, Kawaiahaʻo Church as the twelfth pastor in its illustrious two-hundred year history.
